Designing Stories, Building Legacies: The Aroras on Dialogue with Bath Affair

Designing Stories, Building Legacies: The Aroras on Dialogue with Bath Affair

by admin / Monday, 01 September 2025 / Published in Blog

Luxury design is often spoken about in terms of brands, finishes, and trends. But behind every space that truly inspires, there’s a story — of vision, resilience, and creativity.

In this very special episode of Dialogue with Bath Affair, Sanjay Arora sits down with Gaurav and Natasha Arora, the husband-wife duo behind Market Craft, and their son Aarav. Together, they bring a rare perspective to design: one that is personal, practical, and deeply human.

From shaping Bath Affair’s flagship showroom to building timeless homes and inspiring the next generation of designers, the Aroras’ journey is a masterclass in how creativity, family, and passion can come together to shape not just interiors, but lifestyles.

From Economics to Interiors: Gaurav’s Leap of Faith

When Gaurav Arora graduated with an Economics degree from Hansraj College, no one expected him to turn towards design. At the time, interior design was often dismissed as a “safe profession for women” — but Gaurav had other plans.

“Nazar badli to nazare badle, kashti ka rukh badla to kinare badle.”

That shift in perspective changed everything. Gaurav went on to top all seven batches of his design program and, more importantly, met Natasha — his future partner in life and work. Over the last 25 years, Market Craft has grown into a name synonymous with thoughtful, innovative, and functionally brilliant interiors.

Natasha’s Early Spark: A Teen Designer in the Making

Unlike Gaurav’s unexpected shift, Natasha’s path was clear from the start. As a teenager, her father handed her the responsibility of designing their new home. With only a stack of magazines to guide her (long before Pinterest and Instagram), Natasha quickly discovered that interiors are not just about “pretty pictures.”

Every carpenter’s objection — “this won’t work,” “this can’t be built” — opened her eyes to the technical backbone of design: proportion, scale, and functionality. That early project became the spark for a lifelong pursuit: not just to make spaces look good, but to make them work beautifully.

Aarav: The Next Generation of Creativity

At just 11 years old, Aarav Arora is already steeped in the world of interiors. To him, watching his parents transform spaces feels like a superhero movie, only with swatches and sketches instead of capes.

“Bath Affair is not just a showroom, it’s a statement. Luxury needs innovation. And who says washrooms can’t be stylish?”

He’s contributed ideas for lighting concepts and display solutions, even pitching them to professionals — an experience that’s making him comfortable with design thinking and entrepreneurship at an early age. His perspective adds freshness to a conversation usually dominated by seasoned voices, showing that design truly is a legacy that can be passed down.

Designing Bath Affair: A Five-Course Experience

When the Aroras were entrusted with designing Bath Affair’s flagship showroom, they approached it as if curating a five-course meal. Each floor was imagined as a flavour of its own, with ambience, flow, and functionality carefully crafted.

“Beautiful is form. Genius is functionality.” — Natasha

For them, the task was never about just creating a retail space. It was about designing an experience — one that would impress architects flying in from around the globe, while still feeling warm and inviting to a first-time visitor.

The result is a showroom that doesn’t just display products — it immerses customers in the idea of luxury as a lived, everyday experience.

Practical Luxury: Beyond Aesthetics

In an era where social media often dictates choices, clients tend to pick products based on what they’ve seen at a friend’s home or online. But as the Aroras explain, true luxury requires curation and guidance.

“Clients today are like thermometers — they reflect what’s outside. But designers and showrooms like Bath Affair must be thermostats — not just reading, but regulating.” — Gaurav

This philosophy is what makes Bath Affair unique. Its product line isn’t just about “what looks good” — it’s about what works for the client’s lifestyle, climate, and long-term needs. From TOTO to Hansgrohe, Kohler to Colston, the curated portfolio ensures that customers get solutions that are both aspirational and practical.

In short: it’s not just luxury, it’s practical luxury.

Collaboration as a Strength

For the Aroras, working with Bath Affair was like being part of a dream team. They describe the process as a potluck — every team member brought something different: creativity, practicality, systems, passion, even snacks.

They highlighted the leadership of Rahul Gupta in operations, the energy of Ayush and Mehul in sales and marketing, and the quiet strength of Sonia ji and Aanchal ji as the backbone of the business. It was this culture of collaboration and trust that allowed the vision for Bath Affair to truly come alive.

The Future of Bathrooms: Tech Meets Luxury

Looking ahead, Natasha envisions a future where convenience meets indulgence — think AI-powered smart mirrors that suggest hair and makeup looks, or digital solutions that simplify everyday routines.

Gaurav, meanwhile, points to Bath Affair’s pioneering spirit — the first to bring in global brands, experiment with surfaces, and stay ahead of trends. He believes the future will continue to be defined by innovation, but also by the warmth and hospitality that Bath Affair brings to every interaction.

“When focus shifts from competition to contribution, life becomes a celebration. And that’s what Bath Affair embodies.” — Gaurav

Closing Thoughts
